Wilson suggested over dinner last night that I should perhaps consider a career in California tourism promotion. His argument was that you have to believe in a product to sell it, and with my love of California, I could do a mighty good job of selling it. I just don't think that I'm good at selling anything. Besides, how would one go about getting into that kind of industry? I must admit that I'm intrigued though. It would be rather funny if I could make a career out of talking up the wonders of the Golden State. Of course, I could never be Huell Howser.

And just about every California county and many cities have their own visitor's and convention bureau. That's where the real skill is. It's easy to sell San Francisco. But how do you sell Bakersfield?
