Some thoughts on the shuttle landing:
-Bryce and I had similar thoughts when we heard that the shuttle had landed at Edwards rather than in Florida due to weather. I immediately felt that a point had been won in my unjustified distaste for Florida (which may end up as a post in itself). Bryce thought something more along the lines of "Of course they landed in SoCal, the weather's always good there." So yes, we're both still California patriots, and I don't think that's changing any time soon.
-Why is it that networks feel the need to tap one reporter to become the "expert" on technical topics. Is there really a reason for Miles O'Brien to be going around talking about what concerns are with the shuttle? Is it honestly that much cheaper than asking some one from NASA, or some one who might actually have training and/or credentials? Though it is pretty funny to me that their whole field crew is in Florida while everyone who matters has gone to CA.
-A woman on CNN just referred to Edwards Airforce base as the "beautiful high desert of southern California." Now, while I'm never going to argue with the beauty of my home state, and this woman does happen to be from LA, I think she may need to go back home for a while to be reminded of the white trash wonderland that is the high desert... I guess it is pretty with some nice views, and maybe since Edwards is sooooooo far out it's not yet been subjected to the mediocrity that is Lancaster. Seriously though, there are definitely prettier places in the area.
