At a party Saturday night a British woman unwittingly made my day. After speaking some German to each other she let me know that she couldn't really understand me, not because my German was bad or horribly American, but because my accent was so thickly eastern. Now, I know that an East German accent is not necessarily all that desirable, but it pleased me nonetheless. Of course, I'm still going to assume that a large part of the problem also had to do with my German not being great and the amount of liquor flowing, but will continue to giggle inside.

If the Brit in question was Claire, Pete's friend, then a certain amount of the incomprehension may well have been due to her being pickled. I got "If I lived here, I'd shag you. (quick look at Pete, who was standing right there) He'd shag you, too." Good times.
