I told my boss today that I'd be leaving. I had hoped that he'd take it well, but not this well.

His three main concerns turned out to be the amount of time and money spent training me, the fact that he now had to find some one else to watch his cat during his trip to Europe, and needing to some one to answer the phones.

After he heard that I'd be working part time out of the New Jersey office, got some one to house sit, and made a call to the phone company about getting a different voicemail set up, he actually seemed happy to see me go. Maybe it's the prospect of the money he'll save by not replacing me.
