So I've never really considered myself a very political person. I was never informed enough and can't really argue a point all that well, so I've generally kept out of the debate. I don't know if it's just that with this election I'm finally old/educated enough to see what was going on, or if it really is that W and his cohorts are that much more repulsive than other political figures. Watching the debates has been both funny and depressing. It just seems so transparent how much of a farce this whole process is, the appealing to the lowest common denominator and falling back on ideologically popular standpoints. W comes off to me as a trained monkey spitting his lines without comprehension of what he's being asked. Kerry's almost visibly having to stoop to a level where the unwashed masses have some chance of understanding what he's saying.
I need to accept the fact that I'm not the object of political campaigning. The candidates are trying to reach the average, uneducated, overworked, underpaid, Wal-Mart shopping, hunting, fishing, Jesus loving, Arab hating American. It's times like this when I become certain that democracy is just a joke, an idealistic joke.
