I'm getting the feeling that I'm not supposed to be in New Jersey this week. After the fun that was the attempted Sunday night drive, I tried again last night. Wilson and I grabbed dinner after work, so I got off to a later start than originally planned, but was still set to get here at a decent hour. Then, somewhere near Baltimore, I thought to myself, "Huh, I wonder if I remembered the canvas bag." Since said canvas bag contained all of my shoes and toilletries, panic seized me and I pulled over. Sure enough, no bag. That's right, I had just driven 45 minutes without one of my pieces of luggage and had to turn around to get it.
The result? I drove up this morning, leaving my place at 5:00, and getting here around 8:30. Now I'm relying on my trusty caffeine to get me through the day, but it looks like I may also have technical difficulties. Yay. On the optimistic side though, I managed to keep from falling asleep at the wheel by screaming to myself at the top of my lungs. I feel good about not having injured anyone on the turnpike. It also gives me some hope for the potential 14 hour drive to Memphis in the spring...
