You know it's Cinco de Mayo when Indie's playing Manic Hispanic. I've got to admit, I like "Welcome to Paramount" better than the original. I'm tempted to pick up the new album, but much like Flogging Molly and Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, I'm not sure how much I could sit through an hour of it. That's actually why I have trouble buying CD's. I get bitter when I've got a CD I love that either gets old, or is hard to sit through, which can happen even when the material's good. Other artists on my maybe list for this reason include Rilo Kiley, Brendan Benson, and (believe it or not) Janis Joplin. As much as I love Janis, I don't know how much I would ever listen to the album. She's inextricably tied to a specific experience in my life, and that might not translate into good listening on my way to the grocery store. I should just give in and buy into this whole i-tunes thing so that I can burn myself some mix CD's. There have been a few albums I've purchased lately and been rather happy with, most notably G Love, and Snow Patrol.

I did break down and buy the new Jack Johnson. I'm still hoping to get people to come to the show in September with me, but it's a bit far in advance, and a bit expensive. I'll try to build the precedent by getting everyone out to other, smaller shows, but that may be a pipe dream as well. I'm always up for something new and interesting, so if you've got a favorite band you think I'd like, by all means, let me know. Anyway, I'll stop now as this post seems to have become an excuse to include links to bands I like.

But while we're on the topic of gratuitous links to things mentioned by Indie, I'm looking forward to grabbing some Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf when I go home.

Just a friendly tip: "Fuer diese Welt." Accusative case.
