I had recently noticed something strange on my head, but didn’t think much of it. Then it didn’t seem to go away. Some time last week I developed a theory. You see, I noticed what looked like a lone blonde hair about an inch back from my hair line, near my natural part. This was primarily strange due to the dark brunette nature of my hair. I’ve never shared this view, but have had several (now quite ex) boyfriends try to sound complimentary when calling it black. This is akin to those poor misguided souls that think it would be a good idea to let me hear them call my eyes hazel. They’re green, damnit. And my hair’s brown. Get those two things straight and maybe we can talk.

Where was I going before that little detour? Oh yes, my theory. It hit me yesterday in a bit of an epiphany that the little blonde hair is probably not blonde at all. I do believe that at the ripe old age of 25 I’ve found my first gray hair. It’s still but a single strand, however I am left to wonder at the potential for contagion. I quite like my hair color, and am not ready for it to change. Hopefully I’ll have many years before I have to start dying it. Or maybe I’ll gray beautifully and not have to bother. At the moment, I’m more entertained by the little guy than anything else (am contemplating coming up with some sort of name for it, let me know if you have any suggestions), and hope that I’ll have ample time to enjoy its company before any of its friends come over to crash the party.

Gray hairs need not be bad. There's a girl at school with a shock of gray coming from the center of her hairline and damned if it isn't the sexiest thing.
