In attempting to plan a flight home, I'm having several logistical issues: money, scheduling, and location.
Of course, if I were smart, I wouldn't even be thinking about spending $300 to fly home for a weekend without a specific event to attend. I just very much need a weekend in SoCal to recharge and get a taco, possibly some margaritas. Seeing the ocean wouldn't be a terrible plan either. Theoretically, this would be largely for Kelly's birthday, but it's really entirely for my own benefit.
The weekend I had chosen had been pre-approved by all relevant parties, and the previous two weekends vetoed for various reasons. Now I find myself having the selected weekend potentially also struck down. I can't push the trip back much farther for fear of getting too close to Thailand. For my own mental health, it needs to fall within a certain window. This throws another wrench into the works where Dave's wedding is concerned, but I've pretty much given up on that. Having to schedule with other people is getting a tad bit annoying.
As for location, I'd clearly prefer to leave from DCA than IAD, but that might be a pipe dream. The bigger issue though is destination airport, as for some reason Burbank seems to have the lowest fairs at the moment. I know that one way or another I will be able to make it from Burbank to either West Hollywood or Seal Beach, but worry about the logistics of it all and the hassle involved for others. I suppose that I could just rent a car, but that brings us back to the same cost issue.
Seriously, I'm trying to plan a weekend home, not some complicated excursion.
