I've made no secret of the fact that I'm not a fan of vanity plates. They're just silly on too many levels to consider. This said, I saw one the other day that I can actually get behind. Predictably, this is because it was in German. My suspicion that it was in fact a German word was confirmed by the "D" sticker on the bumper. What was this plate?

UNTRWGS

Unterwegs means "on my way". So here was this car with a vanity plate announcing in German that the driver was on his or her way. It just seemed oddly appropriate to me. Still, I'm sure that the cleverness would wear off pretty quickly. I think that the funniest thing would be to get a vanity plate that looks like a normal plate. I might even try to get my CA license number when I apply for VA plates... Bryce's suggestion was that the best plates would something like the A-Team van or Kitt from Knight Rider. I think that might be getting a little caught up in the current 80's nostalgia.
