Two more observations on the topic of vanity plates:

1. Defying all odds, I've seen another German phrase on a VA plate: VEE GTS. "Wie Geht's" translates to "How's it going?" That just makes me happy.

2. I had previously come the conclusion that this state has a disproportionate number of vanity plates, and this suspicion was confirmed while driving around with Bryce over the past several days. I'm wondering if maybe they're just cheaper here. Either that, or they're more socially acceptable. You're not "that jackass" if you have the stupid plates. They were pretty much an ego thing in California, but then we had more cars, so it's likely harder to get anything you'd actually want. Honestly though, they're everywhere. I'd like to see what percentage of cars registered in VA have vanity plates

Bryce is finally here for his training. Since I'm not really up to a whole lot right now, we've been stretching for things to do. Last night we decided that this would mean going to a see a 75 years of Mickey display at Federal Triangle. This was composed of 6-foot tall Mickey Mouse statues painted in various ways, and could have been absolutely craptastic. Unfortunately, and what else should I have expected from Disney, it was a little too corporate. The one by Rosie O'Donnell kind of looks like she was boycotting the whole "magic" idea, and thus was one of the coolest. I could have done without the Regis and Kelly Mickey.

At some point there was a discussion as to whether or not the Rosslyn Metro escalators were the tallest in the country. We did a Google search and found that the Wheaton station was supposedly home to the tallest escalator in the Western Hemisphere. Naturally, we had to check it out. However, when we got into the scariness that is the part of Maryland directly north of DC, we found that there is no way that the Wheaton escalator is taller than the one in Rosslyn, so more research will be in order.

Ok, too much work to do to fathom...
