Today is further proof of the oddity of the weather in these parts. It got upwards of 80 degrees, and was absolutely beautiful. I even sunned myself for a little while until the shadow of the building overtook me. I was struck by how California I must have looked, wearing shorts, a tank top, and my Birks, and sunning myself on the lawn next to a Nalgene bottle... It felt a lot like Davis actually. For that matter, after looking at myself in the mirror, I look a lot like Davis. This outfit that I was almost embarrassed to wear in the courtyard of my complex would have been standard attire for me two years ago. Funny how things change. I'm not quite sure how much of it has to do with age and how much with location. I didn't realize how conservative the standard of dress was here until I started looking at my summer clothing. Even modest summer wear from home and Davis would be too skimpy and casual for DC...
