Truth #1: Very few people actually read this.
Truth #2: Even fewer people respond to the questions I post here.
With that cleared up, I will ask for opinions on a situations I feel ridiculous for even worrying about. I've been invited to a party being thrown by people with whom I used to intern. The trouble is that one of the other invitees is some one I used to date, who interned at the same place. On the one hand, the prospect of seeing him makes me not want to go. However, the very fact of not wanting to go on his account makes me think that I should attend regardless.
What makes this an issue in my mind is that the party doesn't even look like that much fun, so I wouldn't be worrying about it were this particular guy not invited. We didn't date for that long, but I was well on my way to the l-word, and kind of fell apart in an uncharacteristic manner after we broke up. I don't even necessarily want to avoid him, this just seems like it would be a bad way to see him again.
Questions: How strange is this? Should I go to the party? Am I just an insane female who should watch hormonal levels?

Go with your gut. It sounds like you've pretty much decided that 1) it wouldn't be much fun anyway and 2) this situation would be unpleasant, in which case it makes sense not to go.
And no, this isn't strange or silly. I would react in a similar manner in such a case, I think.
if you would go if this person did not attend; i would recommend you go. that is unless, you have something you would rather do during the time frame. the keyword in your original posting is intern. if this is the case, the best way to network into a similar gig is through informal events like this one.
my two sense.
ive found that i normally regret the things i didnt do as opposed to the things i did do.
if the party ends up not being fun, get out. if the dude shows up and it makes you sad, get out.
if the party is a rager and you end up making out with a stranger against the garage then thats a lot better than clicking through tivo alone.
